The New York Film Academy Cinematic AI Center provides a streamlined, accessible admissions process designed for visual storytellers, technical artists, and industry professionals eager to step into the future of media creation.

Master of Science in Cinematic AI for Film and Media

An unprecedented, accelerated 36-credit graduate degree built for advanced visual storytellers, writers, and technical directors ready to master complex machine learning models and node-based production pipelines.

Required Application Materials:


  • Completed Program Application: Submitted via the NYFA Graduate Portal

  • Application Fee: A non-refundable $75 USD application fee.

  • Academic Transcripts: Official undergraduate degree transcript verifying completion of a bachelor’s program from an accredited institution.

  • Narrative Statement: A personal essay (1–3 pages) detailing your creative and/or technical background, why you want to study here at CAI, and how you intend to use the generative and machine learning skills and technologies you learn here at NYFA CAI.

  • Letter of Recommendation: One (1) formal letter of recommendation from a professional peer, technical supervisor, or creative director who can explicitly verify your technical baseline and adaptability to complex workflow systems.

  • Proof of English Proficiency: Required for all non-native English speakers.

  • Note: Formal admissions interviews have been removed from the evaluation cycle.

Discipline-Specific Creative Requirements:


  • Multi-Part Creative Portfolio: Candidates must submit a simple creative portfolio showcasing either traditional work and/or generative art work. Submissions must include all of the following parts:

    • Traditional & AI Still Images: A curated portfolio of traditional work (live-action photography, 3D renders, paintings, drawings) and polished AI-generated stills.

    • AI-Driven or Traditional Content Piece: At least one sample of an AI-enhanced media project or a traditional media project (Short Film, Commercial, Music Video, Digital Short, etc..).

    • Demo Reel Link: A direct web URL connecting our review board to an active online portfolio or professional showreel displaying your established work in visual effects (VFX), 3D animation, game design, or any form of media production.

    • Professional Demonstration: A demonstration of your professional ability in your area of expertise. This could be a capabilities presentation. Links to initiatives or projects you helped develop. A writing sample. It does not need to be strictly visual or visual at all as long as it shows professional understanding of your given expertise.
