Welcome to NYFA’s Cinematic AI Center

The New York Film Academy’s Cinematic AI Center is piloting a hybrid, ultra-collaborative approach where generative technologies and in-person, boots-on-the-ground, human-led storytelling exist together. As one of the first accredited schools to offer these programs, we are dedicated to ensuring that technology remains firmly in service of the story. We empower artists to tell their stories authentically and in their own voice. At the Cinematic AI Center, we are not just creating tech demos or concept trailers; we are producing real content for real audiences, driven by human writers, directors, and actors.

From day one of their careers, students receive the practical training needed to make both bleeding-edge and traditional tools a permanent part of their storytelling toolkit. Students learn the traditional skills of cinema, like screenwriting, camera, lighting, and performance, alongside specific AI technologies such as LLMs, diffusion models, Generative AI, and new forms of data acquisition like Gaussian Splatting and volumetric capture. By actively using these AI pipelines in both long and short-form storytelling, students learn to navigate the creative process from start to finish across diverse formats and platforms.
