NYFA Cinematic AI Center

Forging the future of cinema

Leading the industry transition

NYFA’s Cinematic AI Center is piloting a hybrid, ultra-collaborative approach where generative technologies and in-person, boots-on-the-ground, human-led storytelling exist together.

Our Approach

Students will learn the traditional skills of cinema, like screenwriting, camera, lighting, and performance, alongside specific AI technologies such as LLMs, diffusion models, Generative AI, and new forms of data acquisition (e.g., Gaussian Splatting and volumetric capture), so both bleeding-edge and traditional tools are part of their storytelling toolkit from day one of their career.

The unreplicable magic comes from combining the physical traditional tools with the new, unlocking the ability to tell stories never before possible.

Ethical Storytelling

It is the duty of storytellers and artists to benefit their communities and their audience. In that spirit, we recognize the ethical problems and public stigma that are associated with these tools.

Students will receive both ethics and business compliance training in addition to their practical studies. Using a production framework that is both compatible with the major unions (SAG, WGA, DGA, IATSE) and in alignment with the business affairs of the major studios (Netflix, Apple, Universal, WB etc…)

Learn from industry professionals

This Center offers both in-person and online courses, combining our faculty’s proven track record of training storytellers with a new cadre of talented professors taken from top AI companies in New York and Los Angeles.

What makes us unique is how we develop AI pipelines by actively using them in storytelling, both long and short form, across diverse formats and platforms. We’re not just creating tech demos or concept trailers; we’re producing real content for real audiences. Our films and narrative experiences are driven by human writers, directors, and actors, empowering artists to tell their stories authentically and in their own voice.
